Digital vs Traditional?

So the question has been posed....digital or traditional? I guess I go for the hybrid version! I have done the traditional type and it is great but it takes a TON of time. Planning the page, cutting the paper, finding the stickers, printing the pictures. Then you have the costs associated with each of those things. Recently I have been using the BEST SOFTWARE EVER MADE and I love the results.

Here are a couple of samples...

This one I used some clip art....MMS (My Memories Suite) does a great job at letting you move and resize stuff really easily.  It also lets you bring in outside images so you can search the web for freebies and pop them in your software!  It does come pre-loadedwith a good selection of stuff as well!

On this baseball picture I left some room and after they were printed I stuck the ticket stubs to the page!

I LOVE MMS and use it for EVERYTHING!  I write a newsletter, I have done some fun word art stuff, I use it to make photo cards for birthdays, shower invites, christmas....the list goes on and on!  I spent...wasted...a lot of time trying to figure out photoshop elements.  Now I don't doubt it is a great program.....it is just over my head!  MMS is an easy to use program that just makes sense!

Surprise!

A great friend watched my son one day so my daughter and I could have mommy/daughter date. Well, I wanted to tell her how much I appreciated it so I gave her this little gift! Inside there was a little note and some headbands that I had made. But the coolest part was the packaging! So, I used a can, one from fruit because it was easier to get clean. Instead of popping the top yourself you use a can opener and open the bottom. So, after it is clean you put your little gift in there and use some hot glue on the bottom then decorate!! I also cut matching paper to cover up the glue a little on the bottom. SO CUTE and easy too!

Vinyl....it isn't out after all!!

I have had so much fun with vinyl lately. I did some Mother's Day gifts and then I finished a sign that I have been working on for awhile now. So, for the sign I bought the base for $6 at Garden Ridge...it had a SUPER ugly picture on it but I knew that I was going to paint over it. Then I used various cricut cartridges with Cricut craftroom, cut out the letters and palced them. I would have probably made the letters a bit bigger but I think it looks okay. Cricut craft room was a great because I was able to save a lot of vinyl. The buckets were purchased along with the chalk board garden markers in the dollar bin at Target and I added some photos to the outside, used a styrofoam ball and pinned ribbon to it for the inside. They were for my mom and sister for Mother's day! I did use vinyl to write on them since I hate my writing! The acrylic tumblers and candles were purchased on clearance at Gordmans for $3 each and I added the vinyl to them as well. Super fun gifts...I think! I hope they don't look as cheap as they were! FUN STUFF!! AND you are probably wondering where I found the SUPER fun colors of vinyl!! A sign store! I just went into a store that does vinyl signs and asked if I could buy some fun colors! They were $1/square foot! GREAT DEAL!!

Crafting to stay BUSY

Since Bill has been gone I have been crafting quite a bit....here are a few of the most recent projects.... So this started out as a junk store find...well I saw the idea on pinterest.
So I sprayed it with primer and then painted it. I taped off the handle and hinges cause I didn't know what color I wanted them. Then I used mod poge and cut out parts of the fabric and put them on the outside. On the inside I used some foam and made little slip covers for it and made a new camera strap to match!! Now it is my fun little camera box! I like it. Not for traveling but fun for at home or car trips! I like how it turned out!
Fun cape for my cute little Vollen's birthday!!

Scrapbook software...

It is crazy that it has been so long since I have last updated this blog...I am going to TRY and be better about it. I got consumed by Pinterest! It is the coolest thing ever! I have done a lot of crafting stuff I just haven't posted about it. Here is my attempt to catch up!

Addi's 4th Birthday thank you notes

Landon's 1st Birthday

Baby Shower Invite

Disney Schedule.....okay it is probably a little over the top but for our recent trip to Disney World we made a schedule.... that wasn't quite enough for me...I HAD to make it CUTE!! It is much more fun if it is cute! We (I suppose it is more like I) laminated it, attached maps to each park that were also laminated, punched a hole and put it on a single binder ring. This ring so conveniently attached to the stroller! Hot Dog!

So there is a little update....I have had a lot of fun with digital stuff lately! The My Memories Suite program is a lot of fun for making photo cards. I am not smart enough to figure out photoshop so it is a great alternative. There are tons and tons of free digital scrapbooking elements online so you just download them and start dragging and droppin! I can so handle that! And you can print them wherever you want to because you just save it as a pdf. I have printed them at Costco or Sams it is cheaper than there premade cards and way cuter and more personalized! Score!!
